Do you need the space and time away from your life
to really get your book started.
Or to get it finished?
to really get your book started.
Or to get it finished?
I have THREE writing retreats planned in Cape Town, South Africa in 2018. This time we are going to be doing it on a beautiful farm just two hours outside of Cape Town. Surrounded by trees and mountains, this eco farm is a creative and inspirational sanctuary far from the stresses of modern life; a sacred space for meditation and reflection, writing and planning, rest and rejuvenation.
You will be guided on your writing journey by top writing coach Sarah Bullen. Sarah has been working with writers and publishers since 2009, is a speaker at writing conferences and actively works with writers to complete and place a book. She is a structure and planning fiend and will help you plot your book, and push you to finish it.
It is a time away in solitude to focus on yourself and your own writing process. For six days, all you have to think about is your writing. And maybe eating.
You will be in a group and together we travel the journey of memory and writing.
In the class you will do exercises individually and a lot of structure, planning and plotting. Remember this is a retreat with a focus on writing, so we are going to push and prod you to get as much of your book done as possible.
In the evening we have a second session of writing with structure and book development.
The course is a combination of technical writing techniques, working through your blocks, finding ways to access your memories and plan your story. Each course is very specifically tailored to either memoir / non-fiction or novels so please make sure you book on the correct one.

WHAT HAVE PARTICIPANTS SAID..
This "write a novel" course was the best birthday present I ever gave myself. It was set in a beautiful and peaceful environment, was well paced, was information packed with all the basics of how to really write a book, had surprising acts of art and physical exercise included to move the thinking through the body, was practical and honest about how dedicated one must really be to write, and was delicious to be around such inspiring facilitators who are warm, caring and so professional too. Thank you Sarah and Anel! - Kate 2017
I spent this last week with Sarah, Anel and the other writers at the Write your Novel Retreat in the Cape. This was truly the most inspiring and motivating thing I have ever done for myself. Sarah's guidance is invaluable. Working our way through the writing process with Sarah has left me feeling far more equipped to pursue my dream. And her personal insights into my project has taken it to another level. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone, regardless of where you are writing wise. Amazing experience.
